About Us

Loblolly Lamb is a family owned and operated farm in Cairo, Georgia. Clay and Marcy Sizemore started the flock in Thomasville, GA in 2011 and moved it to Cairo in 2018. The farm name comes from the loblolly pines that shade the silvopastures where the Katahdin sheep graze for much of the year. Every lamb is born, raised and finished on our farm. We hand pick new breeding stock from a few registered Katahdin breeders in North Georgia. The result is artisan grassfed, grass-finished lamb with a mild flavor and excellent texture.

Practices

We raise our flock using regenerative practices that put the health of the land first. Katahdins are a hair breed well suited to the South’s heat and humidity. We rotate the sheep to fresh pasture every 5 to 7 days and plant winter forage so they can graze year round. Our lambs never receive grain; in winter we supplement with high-protein perennial peanut hay and alfalfa. We use no hormones, no antibiotics, and no fertilizer. We believe these practices support healthy soil and plant diversity for our flock. Lambs are born and raised on pasture, weaned naturally by their mothers, and handled with low-stress methods. Our lamb is processed at a USDA-inspected facility.
